PCV Valves fail generally to excessive oil getting into them and causing either the plastic seals or the valve itself to fail. The hose attachments generally are frail and break during replacment so are included for free with the valve itself.
When this valve fails, you may see the following:
– Rough idle, high idle or surging idle.
– Possibly strange intake noises at idle(whistle, air surge sound)
– Fault codes P0300-P0304 – Cylinder misfires
– Fault P0171 – Bank 1 system too lean)
– Fault P0507 – Idle air control sys. RPM higher than expected
