Symptoms of AirMatic System Failure

There are common signs of Airmatic failure, some of which will be easy to feel, as you know the way your Mercedes should handle and respond to your commands while driving.

AirMatic Compressor Failure

The AirMatic Compressor is the part of your suspension system that generates compressed air to keep you riding high and smooth. When the compressor system malfunctions, such as in cases of motor burnout or cracked air-carrying suspension lines, the end result is that your vehicle will sit low and be unable to rise again.

Airmatic Strut Failure

One of the more common Mercedes-Benz suspension problems is a leaking air strut. When one or more air springs fails, your vehicle will sit lower when still and have an uneven height when driving. If you notice you seem to be tilted at odd angles, it could mean the struts are failing and need to be replaced. Strut failure is an easy fix but a dangerous problem while driving, so it’s important to get this problem taken care of immediately.

Front Struts

Rear Struts

Blown fuses

If you notice your ride is bumpier than its supposed to be, this could be a failure of the fuses in the suspension system. If this is the case, the fuses need to be replaced immediately, as the suspension system is effectively shot, even if it’s not yet showing full symptoms.
